Microsoft Visio is a diagramming program on our computers within our Microsoft Office Suite package. Visio allows teachers and students to create the following types of products:
  • Brainstorming diagrams
  • Cause and effect diagrams
  • Charts and graphs
  • Organization charts
  • Fault tree analysis diagrams
  • Engineering diagrams
  • Flowcharts
  • Maps
  • Floor plans
  • Calendars
  • Timelines
  • Data flow diagrams
  • Data flow model diagrams
To explore the possibilities of Visio, go to Start > All Programs > Microsoft Office > Microsoft Visio. When Visio opens, you will see the following template categories:


Select the category that fits your needs and you will find more choices for each category. For example, if you select Maps and Floor Plans, you will see this:



Once you select, the template, you would like to use, click on "Create" and then a blank page of graph paper will appear. To the left you will see a selection of shapes to use in your diagram. When you find a shape you would like to use, left click and drag it to the spot on the graph that you want the shape to be located.
